Regular Events



Membership groups are available to members who have paid their £3 per year fee, have their membership card with them and thereafter just pay £1 per hour to attend any of the member groups.

Commercial groups fees are set by the person running the group. Special events may be free, have discounts for members or may be at at set fee – details will always be published in advance.

Membership South Machars Crafting Club  1.00pm to 4.00pm in room 6 (Meeting Room) Restarting in December Bring whatever craft you want along. Dig out that unfinished project come and complete it, share your skills, learn something new. The ethos of the group is gather together and learn new skills, sewing, knitting, furniture painting, card making etc. Encourage folk to come along for a cuppa , cake and watch what’s going on. Come for an hour or stay for three.

Membership Community Choir  7.15pm to 8.45pm in room 4 (Coffee Bar) We are a friendly group with a sense of fun who sing together for the sheer joy of it. No previous experience needed. We sing a wide range of music styles. We have a good laugh and go home feeling great after a good vocal workout. Why not come along and give it a try? 

Membership Monday Club 1.30pm to 6.30pm. monthly on the 3rd Monday of the month in room 4 (Coffee Bar)

Commercial Building Healthy Communities Volunteer Drop-in  Mondays 9.30am to 12.30pm. Building Healthy Communities in the Machars is part of a region wide programme and is a partnership of public, community and voluntary organisations that meet and work together in the Machars. As part of the BHC programme, we work with local people, agencies and community groups to improve community resilience. We establish and deliver a range of health and well being interventions, help people develop new skills, increase their knowledge and encourage and support individuals to become volunteers.

Membership Fiddle Group 6.00pm to 7.30pm in room 4 (Coffee Bar) All abilities from complete novices to lifetime players. We have a couple of spare fiddles that we can loan out for you to try if you’re interested. Maybe you have one in your attic. No need to be able to read music – we try to learn by ear with sheet music available. We hope to have a couple of hours soon ~ the first hour to learn, the second to play! Scottish traditional airs, Irish jigs and whatever you like to play!

Glasserton SWRI (Usually 2nd Tuesday of month) 7.00 to 9.00pm in room 2 (GP room)

Membership Friendship Club for over 50s 1:00 to 3.00pm. Come and join us for some company and a cup of tea. All very welcome. Room 4 (Coffee Bar)

Commercial Hard of Hearing Group In room 5. Free drop-in held on the last Saturday of the month from 10.00am to 12 noon. The Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group, provides support and relief to those in need by reason of being hard of hearing.  We offer a care and maintenance service of hearing aids, through drop-in sessions, run by fully trained local volunteers. We give advice and support regarding hearing aid maintenance and managing hearing loss in the local community.  The service is complementary to the services provided by the NHS and Social Work and is accessible across Dumfries and Galloway.


Membership Table Tennis  7.00pm to 9.00pm In room 1. We have three tables. Bring your own bat if you have one, we have some. Open to all ages, children to be accompanied. Expect FUN!
